hai XD your first assignment is to find me a stock image of a horse. we are going to be using this horse in a full manip, so find a good one . i want to see if you can find stock that you are allowed to use because i don't know if you've been taught that already o.O

beautiful choice of stock . i see that you can, indeed, find you own stock. now, i have a question for you: have you ever cut anything out? if you have, can you please show it to me? it will help me greatly for future lessons XD

Heyyy :-)
SO I have a question :-P
I've read the tutorial and I understand it but after I have cut out the horse first time witht the lasso tool then copy and paste it onto another document it keeps the "running ants" and when I do the paths tool it doesn't show up to ants?? I'm kinda confused. . . I can do a screew shot if you need

wow! much much much much better! i cannot believe how much you have improved in just one lesson! critique: there are a few parts where the background is visible, but for now, thats not important. ok, now i want you to find me a stock background. choose one that fits the horse, so to speak. when you have a background, just place the cut-out horse onto it. don't worry about the horse not being done, or the lighting. i always do this so i know if the horse will look good on the background i'm choosing.

Thanks!!
GOSH DARN IT. . I put the horse on the pink background without saving just the horse first. when I saved it it asked me to merge the layers togeter and I said yes. . now I cant get the horse on the background I found :-( is there a way to fix this or do i have to re-cut the horse?

i would use the magic wand tool, or the color select tool. if you don't know where those are, let me know. the result won't be perfect, but i'll tell you how to fix it soon.

Alright . . I decided to cut out the horse again because I couldn't stand he pink around the edge of the horse :-P . . .here is what I came up with www.flickr.com/photos/56426857@N04/5215740449/I couldn't figure out why the horse was so much bigger then the background though :-(

Alright ;-) . . . I was bored tonight so I figure I'd mess around with gimp a bit and after 45 minutes I figured out layers ( well sort of :-P ) and I now know how to move layer, (that are on top of each other if you know what I mean) and scale layers :-) . . . I opened up the cutout horse and used the magic wand tool again to get the running ant affect then I inverted then pasted onto the background scaled it. And because I used the magic want to get the running ants it had a white "border" around the horse so I zoomed to 800% and smudged the white away and messed around with smudging the hoofs into looking like they belonged there and WHOLA: www.flickr.com/photos/56426857@N04/5219657210/Hope you like it :-P

nice its a little piecey around the edges, but when you finish it will look fine. now i want you to play around with the saturation (if you know how, if not let me know) a little, until you find something you like.
