Colour balance is awsome. Really really good!
Shadows - are good. It looks natural - right opacity and blurriness (word?). Only thing I can say - look around the background. If the lightsource was in the place you've suggested with that shadow, then wouldn't there also be a load of tree shadows? Somehow the horse shadow doesn't fit with the rest of the background. Don't get stuck in a pattern of sticking the shadow in the same place everytime - make sure you know where the light source is coming from.
Mane and tail are ...so smduged. That's not always a bad thing, but I think you lost some of the detail in it. Thats personal preference though. :)
