Ok, so since leaping headfirst into the world of graphics studios and the obvious roleplays that are connected to them, at the hip, I've been wondering...
Is there some awesomely fun element to roleplaying that I'm just not seeing? I've NEVER roleplayed before, not one word, honestly. I don't think I even knew it existed, it just wasn't my thing and still isn't to be honest, but I'll usually try anything once but I'd like to know a little about it first.
I'm feeling hesitant because it doesn't seem..feasible to me. Many different people, all trying to make up a story as they go along? How could that even begin to work? But am I just missing the part where it all falls into place? lol
I just don't know, anyone here ever RPG'd, at all? Can you tell me what it's really like? Like I said, I'll try anything once, but I don't like to go into new things blind, cause i'll make a fool of myself.

I don't think it's an age thing. After all, most of the popular RPs I've seen are very complicated and literate, hardly catering to the Neopets crowd(no offense to anyone). lol

I used to roleplay. And loved it. I think it's just the freedom of being able to express yourself through something else - or a creature you would never be able to put yourself inside of without roleplay. And some of the literacy people come up with is really beautiful to read. Personally I would give it a try. You might like it, you might not. It's a personal thing. One piece of advice - if you're going to try it, don't go into it half heartedly. Really try to come up with some nice posts and make an effort to present pages - people appreciate the effort and will take a different view to you if they can see you're serious about it.
Personally, atm, it takes up waay too much of my time. I used to find that I had happily eaten up two hours on the computer perfecting my post, and I just don't have that time anymore. Maybe I grew out of it a little as well, I don't know. Oh well...

i've been an rper since i was - thinks to self - hmmm...14 maybe. right now i'm 17 and still love it. in the beginning i would make stupid one - two liner posts & thought it was the best thing ever. it was just so great to either be something or someone else & say and do things i normally wouldn't in real life or just make a character based off one of my own personality traits. now i take it more seriously & can work up an 800 word post pretty easy, i think my longest post was 1800 words. i have also noticed that i am a much better writer/speller because of rping & a lot of the youth these days lack those sort of skills. i do have to agree though that it does take some time to put effort into it & you aren't always going to have muse. sometimes you just have to take a break from it or work up a plot of some sort to bring more interest back. it wouldn't be too bad though if you stuck to one character since that would be pretty easy to manage. it's just so addicting thinking up a new character & developing its' personality and history. if you met me in real life you'd never even think of me rping, but that's the beauty of it. you can get away from everyday life & dive into a whole other world of your own. overall i'd say rping has helped me a lot, both with writing skills & just being an outlet for my emotions. i say you should at least give it a try & see where it goes. if you have any questions feel free to ask. ^_^

I've been roleplaying for nearly 4 years now. And I love it XD
BUT it's very easy for rp's to go off the deep end. I've seen many sights where it's just people who are illiterate, aren't really creative, and just take plot ideas from Yu-Gi-Oh. I like to think of roleplays as group writing honestly, because when you get really into it you can write an amazing story and still have a great time.
Now it's not for everyone I agree. But I know a lot of people who just judge roleplaying really early and I don't think that's right. I'm part of a very active rp community and it's amazing.
Anyway that's my 2 cents XD

I ♥ Roleplaying.
I've been doing it for years now. I won't go on and on about it; but to keep it short and sweet, it's a beautiful way to express yourself, whether it be for the acting of it, or the literature. It's an art in it's own category.
Like writing your own story except you don't even know how it's going to end.
You should definitely try it when you get the chance.

Roleplaying = amazing. I've been doing it since I was nine, when I posted silly one-liners. So I've been doing it for... almost eight years? (: I run my own horse roleplay right now, and I'm having so much fun! It seems confusing, and it's almost impossible to explain. It's something you kind of just have to jump into, y'know? Read other people's posts and see how it's done, really. It's just seriously creative. It's one of the only true creative outlets I have, and making up my own characters with their different appearances and personalities and flaws and strengths and relationships with other characters, posting them... It's just serious fun! And I agree with jelide, it's an art, but I don't take it too seriously, I think that takes the fun out of it. It can swallow up your life if you let it, but...yeah, it's just great. I'd definitely recommend you trying it, and I can totally try to explain various other aspects of rp'ing to you if you ever need it. ^^ It's great when you need an escape from reality. <3
I rambled... Sorry. xD I just love it.

I actually do have one question.. Do you usually have to discuss every little thing with people, OOC before actually posting it? Not just big things, like killing a character lol but like..idk..a kiss or trip somewhere, any plot tool? Like so there weren't any real surprises for people. :Blol

Haha, no you don't. Like big things, sure, plot them out. Like if your characters are going to fall in love eventually or become bitter enemies - but sometimes even that can be a surprise. Usually if I don't want to plot out what's going to happen I just ask the other person if we can thread our characters and see where they go. Plotting stuff out can be fun, but so is that, especially since my character's seem to have a mind of their own sometimes. ^^

Roleplaying? You've got to be kidding me. Roleplaying is another one of those things that bores me to death. And..complicated! As many of you know, I'm not a complicated person..so..you RPers..tell me what's interesting!

"Shimmering water glistened as it moved across the middle of the plains and wove itself through the bases of the mountains. Birds sang their songs, while the buffalo grazed on the lush green grass provided by last months rains. Slowly peaking over the mountains was the face of the sun, trying to shine her bright rays on the land. Smaller forest animals moved through the trees with no significant attention given as they pass by. Muscles move through the trees as well. Black fur glides over them, and they ripple under the sunlight once it steps out onto the grasslands. His muzzle quivers and dribbles as he stares hungrily at the buffalo, but knowing he is too small. The black gaze is set in another direction, sending him flying towards another group of buffalo. Blood is being spattered across the grass but it is not that of a buffalo. Nor it is any big cat. Once the beasts have passed, an old, dried out log sit by a bare tree, moving slightly with whining sound coming from the other side. Moving cautiously, he sniffs the blood a few yards from the log. Wolf. Another of his own kind. He smells it again. A female. Moving in, he peeks around the far end of the log, finding a pure white female, covered in blood and curled tightly around herself. The black male walks closer, slowly and carefully before he finally reaches her. Licking her head, he put his muzzle to her ear, "Are you alright?" he asks."
I have many, and I mean MANY, rp charries and that was an example. I think it can be extremely fun! Even when you have just 3 people. My characters always pick their own paths, but now it's slightly boring to me, because a favorite site of mine closed down. But I still rp on facebook with a friend and on a new site.
