Ah! First manipulation for this site done. xD I used the horse that was assigned to my by Poet for a assignment I really like this one.

Please please please tell me if you find something I can work on, I'd great appreciate it!

Wow, I'm impressed!

It looks great!

There are a few things that could be improved upon, but they're really easy to fix :]

First, I'd like you to take a look at this: i55.tinypic.com/2eocin6.jpg (Yeah, I like to draw on other people's pictures xDD)

We'll go over what I wrote.

1.) Lighting. See the part of the horse's back that I circled in red? That should be lighter than the rest of the horse, because of the sun that's poking through the clouds in the background.

To do this, you can either:
a. Use the dodge tool - I'd set it on around 15% exposure, and just keep going over the back until it's lighter.
b. Just take a soft paint brush, and paint over the back. Then gaussian blur it a bit (to make it even softer), and then either set it on soft light, overlay, or normal and play around with the opacity.

2.) Now let's take a look at the aqua+yellow+green part. The grass/weeds should be covering the hind hooves/legs as shown in the yellow part.

To do this, you can:
a. Take a grass-shaped eraser tool, and just erase some hoof.
b. Take a small 1 - 2 pixel hard brush, and select that gold/brown color from the grass. Then just stroke the brush over the hooves to make individual strands. (The brush should look something like this: www.myjanee.com/tuts/brush7/intro/images/grassbrush.gif The green highlighted box. [Or you can use the one next to it, that says "112")

3. Mane and tail. This is illustrated with the magenta color xD The mane looks really good - not much to fix there. The tail, however, shouldn't have as many short strands. It should have longer individual strands, as you can see in the black box on the image.

I would recommend taking your smudge brush, and putting the strength or rate somewhere around 50 - 90. Also, if you're using GIMP, make sure that you check the box that says 'fade out'.

I'll be going into the mane and tail in more detail on your thread in my classroom :]

Aaaand, I think that's it! Everything else looks really nice! I adore the softness of the whole image, and how everything almost has a 'glow' to it. Nice text placement, too!

I'm just posting to say I think it's beautiful and if you don't mind the language... it shits all over my latest manip lol.

But yeah I'm not going any more detailed than that cause Poet did an awesome critique and just by looking at the site logo I know she has a huge amount of experience compared with my lack of experience lol =]

Although I do think the mane could actually do to be a bit longer but that's not extremely important.

Anyways I just want to say I love the concept behind this and it's very well done ^^
