New to forums? Here's a list of words and their definition that you should know in order to get the most out of Mayhem Studios. Also some common words that will be used in the classrooms.
Administrator/Admin:The highest permission level possible. Able to manage all boards, threads, posts, everything. Also able to ban/delete accounts.
Announcement: A post that will be displayed at the very top of each board - used for contests, rules, updates, etc.
Avatar/Av/Avy: A customizable image shown below a user's name. You can change it via the "Modify Profile" menu.
Ban: If a member breaks the rules, they may be banned by the administrator. This locks and/or completely deletes your account, rendering it useless.
UBBC: A formatting code consisting of special mark-up 'tags' used on all Proboards forums. Similar to HTML, but uses 'square' brackets instead of 'pointy' brackets, and offers fewer features. UBBC is used in your posts to, for example, make text bold, or include an image or a link.
Board: A specific area of the forum used to post threads of a specific subject. For example, this thread is under the "Must Read" board.
Forum: Generally, a dynamic website where members can post and have open discussions. The whole Mayhem Studios website is a forum.
"Locked" Thread: Moderators and administrators can "lock" a thread to disallow further posts from being added to it.
Moderator/Mod: A member who has been granted moderating rights within certain folders by an administrator. Moderators are able to edit, delete and move anyone's posts if necessary - moved if a thread is posted in the wrong folder, or if a post breaks the rules.
