I'm Poet, but you can call me whatever you'd like! I use Photoshop, but I have GIMP downloaded in case I need to refer to it when teaching.
I'm very flexible on when you get your assignments in - however, if you're going to be gone for more than a few days, I'd appreciate it if you'd lnotify me, just so I know you haven't fallen off the face of the earth or something xD

Now, for your first assignment, I'd like you to just cut out a horse, and put it on a brightly colored background.
Use this horse: browse.deviantart.com/resources/stockart/?q=horse&order=9&offset=120#/d30pnpa
If you want to smudge the mane and tail, then just loosely cut out the horse's hair.
If you want to paint it, just don't cut out the mane and tail at all.
Remember to save the cut-out horse as both as PSD and JPG file. The PSD is so that you can go back and edit it later if needed.
